Grasses and Trees in the Spring

This photoshoot location is situated along a scenic trail in Novato, in North Marin, and offers a calm, natural setting that photographs beautifully throughout the year. It is a favorite for families who want an outdoor session that feels relaxed and peaceful without lots of crowds. The trail winds through mature trees and open areas, with beautiful light the whole way.

One of the defining features of this photoshoot location is the variety it offers within a short walk. Tall, established trees provide shade and soft, filtered light, which is especially helpful during warmer months. In the summer, the surrounding grasses grow tall and turn golden, creating a warm, California-inspired backdrop that adds depth and texture to images without overpowering the subjects. In the spring, tall green grasses just scream Marin, and in the fall, the shorter brown grasses go wonderfully with deep rich neutrals. Along the trail, you will also find small wooden bridges and rock formations that kiddos are obsessed with and add an element to fun the session.

This location is good for any session, from simple to small extended family (6 people or less). Sessions here happen an hour prior to sunset.
