Eucalyptus Forest at Cavallo Point

This South Marin location, just a quick drive over the Golden Gate Bridge, is one of those spots that feels peaceful and calm the second you arrive. Tucked quietly into the eucalyptus trees at Cavallo Point, it feels worlds away from the busier, more tourist-heavy parts of the Bay Area. It is rarely crowded, softly shaded, and has a timeless, natural feel that photographs beautifully no matter the season.

The eucalyptus grove is really the star here. Tall, layered trees filter the light, creating a soft backdrop that works especially well for families and maternity sessions. The light tends to be more even than open fields or beaches, which means fewer harsh shadows and a calmer overall look. Kids can move around without feeling overwhelmed by wide open space. It is one of those locations where everything feels cohesive without trying too hard.

Another reason this spot works so well year-round is how forgiving it is. While many Marin locations change dramatically with the seasons, these trees stay green even when the hills turn golden. That makes it a great option if you are booking in late summer or fall and still want greenery in your photos. The shade also helps on warmer days, and on cooler, foggy mornings it tends to feel protected and cozy rather than windy and exposed.

Although the Golden Gate Bridge is not the main focus at this location, it is still there if you want a subtle nod to San Francisco. With the right angle and timing, we can sneak in a photo or two where the bridge appears quietly in the distance. It gives you that unmistakable Bay Area feel without overpowering the session or turning it into a tourist postcard moment.

Sessions here are in the daytime, with some in the morning and some several hours before sunset. Sample photos are from a cloudy day. This location is ideal for simple sessions, as well as an add on for extended family sessions at the Cavallo Point location.
