Cavallo Point

This photoshoot location is the perfect spot for everyone wanting that iconic San Francisco look for their photos, but to not have it be the center of your family photos. It has Presidio-like buildings, a large lawn, a tree grove and of course, the Golden Gate Bridge. With easy parking, and very few crowds, it’s a great way to get the bridge without dealing with the chaos of the city side of the bridge. This location can get chilly, but if you are willing to bundle up and lean into the sometimes windy conditions, it can really pay off! Grasses and weather are dependent on season, with green grass surrounding rainy season and shorter golden brown grass the rest of the year. Kids love running around the lawn and if it’s warm enough, skipping rocks at the little beach at the end. If you have a large extended family and opt for a legacy session, you can add on the Eucalyptus Grove location at the beginning of your photoshoot for even more variety. Bridge views can be obscured by Karl the Fog so book with caution during June Gloom, July and Fogust. Sessions are not rescheduled due to fog or cold, so be prepared with jackets and layers that you are comfortable having in your family photos.

The restaurant at Cavallo Point is the perfect way to wrap up your session and reward yourself for a job well done!

Sessions here begin up to 2 hours prior to sunset. This location is good for families of any size and maternity, including large extended families.

If you are looking for a maternity or family photoshoot in Marin or San Francisco, but aren’t feeling this location, I have several others to choose from, all with different vibes. You can see your options here. You are also always welcome to have your session in-home no matter the season!
