5 Must-Have Pumpkin Patch Photos

Going to pumpkin patches is one of both Tenley and my favorite activities to do in the Bay Area. We both go to multiple throughout the year, with her going in the South Bay and me in the North. We also have a Halloween sleepover ever year where we go together.

Needless to say, it’s a huge part of our fall and Halloween season.

Just like with apple-picking, we have some must-have pumpkin patch photos and we wanted to share so you could get some pumpkin patch photo ideas for your next trip!

Want more advice for how to take great photos of your kids in the fall? Well, we’ve got you! In addition to our online course for parents to learn how to take better pictures of their kids, we also have affordable mini-courses for each season. The fall guide is amazing!

Enjoy the Patch!

Nose to nose- We’ve said it once and we will say it again, GET IN YOUR PHOTOS! You don’t have to smile and look. Use this prompt: Touch my nose to your nose!

Corn boxes or maze- If you go to one of the bigger pumpkin patches, you may find a corn box or corn maze. With little ones, we stick them in the corn and shoot them from above. If you are doing a maze with the older ones, have them run at you or photograph them peeking around a corner or through a stalk of corn for some added interest.

Pumpkin head- We love any photos that can show size and the pumpkin head is one of them! In these photos, you have everyone carrying a different sized pumpkin. You start with mini pumpkins when the kids are little and bring them all the way up to the big ones once the kids can carry them. This is a kid favorite!

Twirling or jumping- Action is always important in photos and we love images of our kids twirling through the patch. Have non-twirlers? Have them jump off a hay bale. Kids are always down for pictures with some action!

Activities- Whether they be tractors or pumpkin cannons, each pumpkin patch has something fun and extra. We try to capture those memories if we can find good light.
