This Lucas Valley location is one of those little hidden gems that feels like a deep forest adventure without actually needing to hike. Nestled in a quiet part of Marin, it features little trails, leaf-covered ground, and a canopy of the coolest, twisting trees. The trees here are mostly evergreen, which means you’ll get a timeless backdrop no matter the season—but the spring does bring a touch more green and vibrance to the surrounding foliage.

What makes this spot extra special is the variety of little nooks tucked throughout: trails lined with tall tree trunks, open patches that fill with light, and even a charming wooden footbridge that we can use if the sun cooperates. It’s the perfect balance of structured nature and organic beauty.

All sessions here happen in the morning, which works especially well for families with young kids who are happiest earlier in the day. Morning light can get bright fast, especially in summer, but I’ll guide us to the shady paths and backdrops that work best. This session is a great example of how the location photographs on a bright day. It’s also just steps away from the parking area, so it’s easy peasy. To see highlights from multiple sessions and hear more about it, you can head over to the blog and read this post.

This location is great for signature and mini sessions, for immediate family or small extended families.

If you are looking for a maternity or family photoshoot in Marin or San Francisco, but aren’t feeling this location, I have several others to choose from, all with different vibes. You can see your options here. You are also always welcome to have your session in-home no matter the season!
