Inspiration: SF Family Photos in the Presidio

San Francisco has so much to offer for family photos, from beaches to iconic backdrops, but for someone that lived there for over a decade, I always love the hidden nature tucked into the city. I lived in the Marina for years, and would pop over to the amazing Presidio almost every weekend with my kids and once I saw this spot, I knew I needed to offer it for to my SF and Bay Area families for their photos.

This spot in the Presidio is literally perfect for SF family photos. It has easy parking (a must in the city when you are rushing to get out the door), clean bathrooms (anyone with a potty training toddler knows what’s up!), and is an easy path for anyone who can’t quite hike the hills or trudge through the sand in some of the other well-known SF locations. It’s also tucked away on a path that rarely gets crowded and has beautifully light in the evening hours. This location is not great in the morning, but if you are willing to wait until two hours to an hour before sunset, it’s stunning, even on a foggy day.

Since it’s so accesible, not crowded, and has so many backdrops in close proximity, it’s great for families of all sizes, including large extended families. This family brought grandma along and we got some great shots with her in addition to the traditional family photos with the rest of the family. As a family photographer in the Bay Area, these are the types of locations I dream of! Rarely do you get the combination of all of the things this amazing place has to offer all in one spot!
