Marin Photoshoot Location: Eucalytpus Grove

Every outdoor photoshoot location I choose is special and I choose it for a reason. Some work best at sunset for those families that want golden light, while some work in the daytime hours for people working with nap schedules or whose kiddos do best in the morning. Some are more urban, while some are more natural.

This Marin photoshoot location, which I’ve called the Eucalyptus Grove, has so much to offer and is one of my more versatile locations for timing. It’s great in the morning hours, as well as the afternoon, and if you are planning a longer session like a signature or legacy session for an extended family, you can combine it with the Cavallo Point location for two different looks, and even mix up your accessories to get a different vibe in your outfits. While you should plan for harsher light with more contrast as you get closer to midday, the trees really help shield the brightest parts of the sun, which still makes for flattering light in those brighter times. The vibe does change depending on the weather, so be prepared for anything! The photos in this post are all different lighting because of the times of day and the weather.

While this location involves a little “hike” up the location, we can take photos all along the way, so it’s never strenuous and beautiful the whole way.

This location is so easy, that it can easily be used for shorter sessions, and is a regular on my minis circuit in the fall. It’s large trees and foliage are consistent year round, so you can be assured that it’s going to be beautiful any time of year. Even when the rest of the hills have turned golden, you will get green at this location.

This Marin photoshoot location also has a few bonus features that we can get, like a little spot with views of the hills, and a peak through the trees at the Golden Gate Bridge if we are lucky!

If you’d like to hear more details about timing and see a gallery from one session, you can hear me wax poetic about it here.

Don’t just take my word for it though, here’s what one family who was photographed there had to say about their session: “My photos turned out beautiful! Cristin was so easy to work with and easily got my shy toddler to laugh and engage. Super easy session with a great outcome - we did a mini session with her and my metric of success for family photos is just one good picture and we had a really hard time narrowing down to 10! We're going to book her for newborn pics as well.”

If you are looking for a maternity or family photoshoot in Marin, but aren’t feeling this location, I have several othersto choose from, all with different vibes. You can see your options here. You are also always welcome to have your session in-home no matter the season!
