Why Choose Outdoor Maternity Photos?
When you are looking for outdoor maternity photos that scream Marin County, look no further than this amazing location nestled in the hills of Marin. In the spring, these hills are lush and green and filled with wildflowers. In the fall, when these were taken, the grasses turn golden and the sunsets are nothing short of magical.
As an in-home girlie at heart, my brain often thinks of maternity photos as curled up with a cup of coffee snuggling your other kiddos while they put their ears up to your belly to feel baby kicking. However, outdoor maternity photos, especially somewhere as beautiful as Marin County, can have a totally different vibe and be even better than the in-home option for certain family and for certain kiddos. While in-home maternity photos are great for shy kiddos who need time to warm up, outdoor maternity photoshoots are perfect for soon-to-be-siblings who are adventurers. This little guy found every single rock and stick he could and carryed them dutifully around the location. Don’t worry, though, they won’t be in your pictures. We stowed them away in safe spots out of frame so he could come back for them later if he so chose. Because as all parents know, if your kiddo gets attached to that special rock or stick, all hell will break lose if it’s left behind.
When considering whether to do an in-home maternity shoot versus a shorter studio maternity session versus outdoor maternity photos, you have to also consider your kiddo and your family.
Is your family adventurous, loves to hike, with kids that are more likely to listen and be able to be themselves when out in nature? Outdoor it is!
Are your family’s favorite hobbies reading together on the couch, and your kiddo is shy and needs time with strangers? Alternatively, are they a high demand kiddo who does better with their toys, lots of snacks and outfit changes in case of spills? In-home is for you.
Are you freaking tired of being pregnant with a high energy toddler who needs to be contained or they will run wild? Are you too exhausted to hike up hills, but don’t want to take photos in your home for lots of reasons (tiny apartment/don’t want to clean/in the middle of a remodel)? A short and sweet mini maternity session in the studio is perfect!
